A hope just when there was no hope,
A light when no light alone,
The darkness that enveloped her,
Was like no other known.
With such despair came no relief,
No victory in sight,
Defeat was calling, Satan cried,
"Give up and lose the fight."
He had her down with no way up,
All hope was surely gone,
A struggle lost was all she saw,
Her enemy had won.
Then she remembered she had prayed,
To know Him even more,
And then she knew it--He is hope,
She'd evened up the score!
He wasn't anxious, didn't fret,
He knew it all the time,
Because he will not touch defeat,
Their victory is hers!
