THEIR AZALEA

It shot its wad!...
Their azalea plant in their backyard.
It sparked...then died!
All he has are photos made in saddened pride.

Just an ordinary plant,
He gave it care, by ridding ants
And all the pests that nature brings.
It gave such beauty!...and all those things
Of lively color; yes, their yard
Exuded beauty for this "bard"...
Its lovely flowers, especially at its final hour.

It shot it wad...as it displayed
A plant so gorgeously arrayed...
Such fullness at this ending page.
No longer sought to be on stage.

And now her final burst is done,
Her energy's forever gone!
Though gaunt and withered now she be,
She'll be a lasting memory.
