THE ROPE

Dreams and expectations
Are all they ever hope,
Come into their lives
At the bottom of the rope,
Hand over hand.
They reach for the top.
Just to slip back down
When undone is the knot.
After all disappointments
They make themselves stronger.
Looking up, or not
The rope gets longer,
So learning to adjust
They sit back and cope.
Realizing that it's not so bad
At the bottom of the rope.
