THE HERO
He would heed to destiny's call
And gave himself to glory and fame
The first to fight, the last to fall
Soon all men would know his name
For freedom and liberty, justice for all
Those words he spoke nearing his death
Face with courage, uphold the low
He stated to them with his last breath
He was the hero of the war
The shout went up in a battle cry
Remember the men who came before
Remember the reason they had to die
His image was made of marbled stone
Sitting as proud as he could be
Astride a horse of granite tone
For all the eyes of the world to see
Under his name, those words engraved
That the lessons of war be finally shown
For, "If the world is to be saved,
Man killing man must become unknown."
