THE GOLDEN TREE

There was a golden tree--in a forest all his own...
With sparkling golden leaves--the likes of which no one has known!
One day his tree was stolen--uprooted from the ground...
He searched around the forest--but his tree could not be found!
Until there came a gentleman--with bright angelic eyes...
Who said, "Don't be discouraged, for just beyond there your tree lies!"
Momentarily, he vanished--no longer to be seen...
So, he followed in his footsteps--to a valley richly green!
Once again, he saw the gentleman--just ahead of him...
As he walked across the water--and stood beside the golden tree!
Then he shouted, "Son, it's your turn to walk across the sea...
And as quickly as you do it, you shall have the golden tree!"
But he said "Lord, I can't do it for my soul is weak and tired...
I'm not ready to surrender the earthly things I have desired!"
He gave a gentle smile--and said, "You have some things to learn...
I'll be patient all the while--as the golden tree you earn!"
Now every day he's learning--as the moments pass...
To walk upon the water--as if it were but glass!
Until the day will come--that his spirit will be set free...
As it reaches the other side--and he becomes the golden tree!
