THE GIFT IV

Washed away by tears
And sunk in blackened pools
Their scarcely beating hearts
Saw they were such fools
To take a gift from Love
And keep it to themselves
As knowledge gleaned from books
And hidden among the shelves
The frost was not the pleasure
In the cup that they had poured
The love they thought forever
Was endowed to serve the Lord
In fortune there is duty
They sadly couldn't see
That grace abounds in beauty
And clarity was the key
To loose the selfish bond
That kept their love between
What was in their minds
And what was in their dreams
