THE EVENING LOWERS

So, the evening lowers
Redolent with scent of flowers.
Refreshed by gentle showers.

II

So, dwindles the evening hours
Amid the nodding flowers.
Night in the shadows cowers.

III

So, purples the evening shadows--
The leaves chant their fado
With a defiant air of bravado.

IV

Evening comes on slippered feet
Down a quiet tree-lined street,
Where day & night meet.
