SANDALS ON THE BEACH

The wind blew hard and could that day
Sand was blown over her
Uncovered there on the beach
By her, a pair of sandals lay
She could not resist but looked around
To tell someone what she had found
Then in a faint whisper a voice said
To her

Cover the sandals where they lay
They bring sad memories of yesterday
They were worn by someone so dear to me
Who was carried away by the angry sea
So eager was she the angry waves to ride
I kept them there to carry on
Shells keep washing upon the shore
For all to see
But the tide cannot bring her back
To me
So let the sandals by you lay
I'll come for them tomorrow
Tomorrow another day.
