REMNANT OF CHRISTMAS, '11

Lo, dainty green Christmas-tree
With silver bells glistening bright
Near the top and clinging tight,

And ornaments in pattern random
Wedged primly into little clusters.
Strive to rival its brilliant white!

All who linger and admire
Tempted often are the touch it
All this time! A charming sight!

All this time she wondered, Is it
Only there for Christmas glory?
Has some vandal missed its beauty?

Lucky is she that others choose
A nut bar or a pfefferneuse
Rather than her favorite cookie!
