One melting into the other, on the bus
She laughed at him
With her skinny hips, big teeth and
His new wedding ring
Loves new light, rose
He reached over and touched
Her strawberry blonde hair, examined it
Leaned in close and
Whispered something or other
She strained to hear
To read his lips
But they were shut to her
She threw her head back and
Laughed in silence
The air conditioning blaring out his words
Stopping
She watched them spill onto
The scalding sidewalk
Instantly evaporating into the crowd.
