ON THE GRASS

The wind wasn't blowing
Nor the clouds flying,
But still he was here
Alone just dying.

He lies down on the grass
Looking always up.
He wonders why--
Why it was just he?

Maybe he was the first
Or maybe he was the last,
But it seemed not to matter
For he alone was on the grass.
