NINE HOURS OF LIGHT

It purrs
As the last strand of sunlight
Unwinds itself.
The night arches
Its silken back
Over the horizon.
Billions of abyssinian eyes
Twinkle.
With the flick
Of a paw,
Golden skeins of light
Turn a brilliant white.
The catnip moon
Is risen,
Until the copper tabby
Pounces again
At dawn,
Licks its orange paws,
And rests on Love's
Billowy eyebrows.
