MOTHER

She sits there talking,
Only she does not always hear.
She tells her what to do,
Only she does not always follow.
She tries to make her different,
Only she does not always change.
She wants her to do her best,
Only she does not always do what she wants.
She asks her to be quiet,
Only she does not always shut her mouth.
She tells her to always do what's right,
Only she finds herself doing what she feels--
Mother.
That is what she is.
She is there when you need her.
She is there when you don't.
But most of all,
She is there.
