MEMORIES VI

She looks at the sky so blue
And longs once more to be with you.
It seems like only yesterday
She thought their love was here to stay
When she awoke to the morning dew,
She went to the place with hopes to call you.
She picked up to hear a dial tone.
Then she remembered you were not home.
All the events from the year before
Had come back to haunt her once more;
The skidding car and whistling train,
And no one knows just whom to blame.
Why hadn't she been in the car with you?
Then their last moment together would be more than a few.
She awakes at night and sometimes hears
Your screams and yells so full of fear
She remembers the last words and often hears you say
I love you, and it will be okay.
