LONGING FOR SPRING

She longs for spring
In waiting to see
What her garden will bring

Tired of seeing trees
Without leaves
Swaying in the breeze

This garden she's only seen in her mind.
She will cultivate with love
And upon the foods of her labor she will dine

Stuck here between these walls
To save themselves from Mother Nature
No grass, no flowers, what she
Would give to see any creature.

She longs for spring
Just to see what her garden will bring
For she is tired of being the only
Living, breathing, growing thing.
