INTERVENTION

She sits across from him looking into eyes that seem to
Look through her.
It has always been this way; her talking
Him not listening.
She tries not to dwell on the times when she needed him so
Desperately and he chose himself over her.

O Love, she wants him to be well.
She wants him to get help.
How long, O Lord, most she pray?
Will you answer before death does?

The cycle goes on.
It must be broken.
She wants to show him what he has done to his life,
To their lives.
She needs her to see the man she sees too infrequently.
What keeps her clinging to hope.
She wants him to know she loves him and understands
That love wants the illness to end.

Dad she wants you to choose life--choose them--
Over self.
