I'M AIMING TO CATCH ME A MEAL

"I'm aiming to catch me a meal," said he,
As he climbed up to twig on the bush
There was snow on the ground and a heavy fog,
As the spider crawled out of the brush.

"It's a midwinter thaw," she knows she knows,
And he spun right across where she passed.
He spun and he spun a web in the fog
Between twigs and the bush and the grass.

"If a fool can spin, as a fool can fly,"
And he dropped to the ground by his thread.
In the fog on the snow he waits for prey,
And for her--she is glad they have met....
