HER FAMILY (A THANKSGIVING TRIBUTE)

She has been blessed and she's thankful too,
That her family's been created with different hues.

From skin dark as night with hair like spun yarn
To coloring of caramel when it's slightly warm.

Fiery red locks with freckles to match
And tones of straw yellow--the color of thatch.

Some eyes are almond shaped, some eyes are round,
But this is her family as mixed as it sounds.

This is her family as mixed as can be
But linked to others from the beginning common seed.

As they give thanks this season for them not forget
Though others look different, they all deserve respect.

Respect for their differences and tolerance too,
For she's described her family, and it could be yours too.
