The trumpet has summoned a gallant man,
Beloved by all the free,
Like brave men of old, he goes to keep,
His date with destiny.

He gave his life for his country,
Now his soul rests in peace,
But the glow from the fire he kindled,
Will surely never cease.

His brave deeds will long be remembered,
Engraved on history's pages,
With heavy heart, they bade him farewell,
Now he belongs to the ages.
