BLACKTOP RIVER

Through a river of rage
Currents of confusion
Ebb and flow against
A windswept shore
Pain impaled on rocks
You wither in the sun

Over a river of rage
A bridge is breaking
Caught in the middle
As the sighs of steel
Mark the threat of breaking
To drown in the river

A last moon as
Cold blue steel gives way
Loud splashes echo
Through a forest on fire
And two winged birds hover
Still holding each other up
