AIN'T NO THEME FOR ENGLISH B

The Harlem Renaissance, a showering of births.
You gave him life, and all his worth.
Illustrating racial pride and dignity.
Powerful words, as the great Dr. King.
Mirrored in his poems,
A perspective on the Blues.
The "Black Folks Era!"
Out came Langston Hughes!
Then Hip-Hop came out wit all its glory.
A culture that came with its own urban stories!
Where robbin' and killin' is a way of life
Rakim, expresses the use of a knife.
And why many feel that
"Be all you can be..."
Defers the dream of the dark skins, like her.
"I, Too" think of "My People," Rakim and Hughes
Every corner she knows, sells booze.
Bonaca, this ain't no Theme for English B
Just a lil' suin' she'z picked up in Poetry.
