The luminescent moon, a farewell moon, dimly
Lit the shadowed path, as she scrambled up the
Steep rocks.

The brush's thorny fingers grabbed at Johanna's
Claret, colored cloak.

Tears filled her brown eyes, weeping eyes, that
Once beheld her brown bearded man of the sea.

Canvas flapping, the wooden ship glided on water,
Black as the night.

Her beloved, her joy, her rock to lean on...gone.
His touch, his soft lips and tenderness, now
Missed and longed for.

A soft breeze blew against her wet cheek as
Grieving Johanna stood alone, enduring
Her aching heart.
