A BRIGHT NEW WORLD

Rain clouds gather with a brief sprinkle of rain drops.
Gentle wind breezes rise to gale force.
Rain drops grow in size until a great burst of rain comes down.
The dry, hard earth becomes saturated and cannot hold the downpour.
Water rushes pellmell down streets building deep reservations.
With great energy, it deposits itself in arroyos.

Suddenly without warning, the sun shines.
Sparkles abound and seem to catch everyone by surprise.
Rainbows are trapped wherever a raindrop has survived.
The colors are sharp and glistening.
People pause bemused, look around, smile sheepishly.
They have been caught in a bright new world after a storm.
