TO THEIR UNKNOWN CHILD

They never held you in their arms
They never saw your face
They never bounced you on their knee
Or taught you to say grace.

She knows you were a part of her
For just a little while
But Love has reasons for all things
And thus she'll try to smile.

No one will know just how she feels
Now as she thinks of you
A mother's love you'll never know
And a father's feelings too.

She knows that was Love's will you see
Of taking care of things
But still it hurts to know you're gone
And such emptiness it brings.

Sometime she'll wonder who you were
And what you would have been
But they must go on and start anew
And begin their lives again.

Good night her little unknown child
Whose life she'll never see
You are in her thoughts forevermore
In her heart you'll always be.
