THE PAIN OF THE RAIN, OUTSIDE

She listens to the steady beat, the rain.
It pounds harder every day, the pain.

He remembers the way they were, back then.
She longs for the days of summer, again.

Outside of the window things are right, away.
Inside things are not so bright, no way.

How can they look but not see it, the fear.
No one will notice if she wipes away, the tear.

They dance by in their happy world, who knows.
They kiss in the silhouetted background, shadows.

Their love is painfully torturing her, she hurts.
She watches the dagger pierce into her soul, her heart.

The rain pounds harder than before, outside.
The pain bleeds further evermore, inside.
