FIVE CENTS MORE

She cleaned her room this morning,
Just to get five cents to spend,
She plans to buy a licorice whip,
And eat it slowly to the end.

She walks to the candy counter,
And looks at the gentleman there,
She gives the man her five cents,
And he gives her a good long stare.

"You want a licorice whip," he said,
"I can tell by the look in your eyes,"
Then he gave her a licorice whip,
That was extra long in size.

She thanked the man kindly,
Then she left the store,
But she only walked half a block,
And she needed five cents more.

She ate her licorice already,
Her money spent so fast,
The next time she gets five cents,
She'll make her licorice last.
