A FRIEND IN NEED

Why do they do it, don't they care?
They rush and hurry, are they not aware?
They let an opportunity to reach out slip away.
That person needed their call today.

They needed the encouragement they could share,
To comfort and help them their burden to bear.
But they went to their work without a thought
Of the love and compassion their hurting friend sought.

Why do they do it, can't they see?
Are they so wrapped up in "me, me, me"
That they have no time to serve each other?
Have they forgotten Love's command to love one another?

The next time they see a friend in need,
Help them, Oh Lord, to do a good deed.
Give them the courage to reach out and say,
"What can I do, to help you today?"
